Shale Shelter
2022

Shale Shelter (2022) is a small, hidden shelter along a cliff, made with stacked stone and reinforced with driftwood sticks. Its construction is unsanctioned, and its permanence is negligible. It seeks only to provide a temporary space to sit, lie or even spend the night, as extending sticks provide a structure for a tarp or tent. Mostly this was an exercise in exerting autonomy in design and construction, as well as providing enclosure in a space not meant to be lived in, potentially providing opportunities to users avoiding conventional housing.
